Black Pyramid Ant

Black pyramid ants are emerging as another pest here in southwest Florida. These ants are medium-sized, and prefer to nest in sandy patches of soil, regularly in poorly developed sod. Their nests commonly have several entrances, each of them resembling a miniature volcano. Black pyramid ants do not sting, their bites are said to be just a minor annoyance.
